Well, I finished watching Season 1 of Veronica Mars , watching the last five episodes in one sitting. What a fantastic show! (For more detail, check out my review of it in The Reilly Review) I'd heard good things about it, and decided to buy it from Amazon. It is some of the best TV I've ever seen. Season 2 awaits...
I'm off to Perth in a couple of weeks, for the WAYBRAs (Western Australian Young Readers Book Awards) on September 22. I was asked to attend in 2005 when Scarecrow won Most Popular Book, but couldn't, so I sent a video message. But they asked me again this year-and they asked so nicely (which goes a long way, let me tell you!) - so I said I'd go. Looking forward to it.
Apart from that, since I finished the first draft of my next novel (yes, it's all out of my head and on the page!), I've been doing some script work - scripts don't take anywhere near as long to write as novels, so it's enjoyable to work on them in between the books. You get that wonderful satisfaction of finishing something a lot sooner!
I was also very saddened this week by the deaths of two Aussie legends: 'the Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin and racecar driver, Peter Brock.
As those who have read Hover Car Racer will know, I was a huge fan of Peter Brock's when I was growing up (for our American readers, this guy was the Mario Andretti/Dale Earnhart/Al Unser Jr of the Australian car racing scene).
As for Steve Irwin - what a guy! A man who's gigantic personality just lit up the entire planet. He will be missed. He touched many hearts by just doing what he did and being who he was. The world is a little darker without him.
