his is a screenplay for a short film written by Matthew Reilly in 1999 (nearly two years before Memento came out; so no accusations of rip-off). Originally, Matthew intended to produce and direct it himself for a film festival in Australia called Tropfest. But then Tropfest asked him to write a 150-word short story for their programme and he felt that to enter a film in the festival would then be a conflict of interest. So, instead, Matthew used Rewind as the basis for the short story, which became The Fate of Flight 700.

If any aspiring film-makers would like to make Rewind into a short film, Matthew advises that they are welcome to do so -- on one condition: that he gets to see a copy of the finished product!
